I woke up this morning and realising what day it was (first day of March) felt a sudden rush of panic. I’m due to give birth this month! I thought I’d be calmer and more prepared the second time around. I know what to expect this time which makes things a little easier but at the same time I know what to expect. I know exactly whats coming to me. I’m hoping for an easier (or at least less traumatic) labor than I had with Lamb but I’m also praying for breastfeeding to be a far less painful experience. Those first few weeks are hard enough without having your newborn baby’s hunger cry strike fear and dread into your heart. I have no idea how it’s all going to go, I just have to wait and see how things pan out. In the meantime I’m trying to enjoy the last 31 days of one-on-one time I have with my daughter. Although that’s easier said than done considering I can’t walk 10 meters without needing a rest, I can’t sneeze without peeing, I have a constant backache and I’ve recently become the crankiest, most irritable woman alive.

Thinking of you lots and sending you love from Copenhagen. There's a good chance he'll be born on your birthday, my birthday or Claire's birthday! I vote MY birthday… when is your due date? End of March? 🙂
Ohhhh I'm understanding you – I'm nearly 38 weeks and the physical aspect is becoming increasingly more difficult. Always out of breath, swollen ankles, I'm having to drive everywhere which I hate, my hands are clumsy just when I can't bend to pick things up.
Hang in there, all will be ok. It's a huge time of life, expecting a baby – second time around was so much easier for me… just waiting to see what the third is like!
I felt the same in the lead up to Leila's birth, but it was easier second time round—both labour and breastfeeding. I just 'went with it' a lot more and trusted my body more I think. In terms of breastfeeding, first time was horrific, but we got there in the end, this time I knew to get those nipple shields a lot earlier to avoid those horrendous cracked and bleeding nipples!! One of the most amazing things I found was how big and suddenly grown up number 1 looks after number 2 arrives! Best of luck to you and wishing you a beautiful and amazing birth xxx
Such an exciting time for you. If you are nervous regarding breastfeeding, it may be worth having someone who knows such things ensure that babe is latching on properly. After much agony (and thinking I knew what I was doing) I was shown a shockingly simple fix. I also found it far less painful second time round as I was toughened up a bit.
