I usually edit out my acne and scaring in photos of me. But every time I do it I feel a bit icky, like I’m betraying some of my core values. I detest all the over filtered versions of people all over social media. I once spent a week in bed with the flu, scrolling Instagram and watching movies. Once I had recovered I went to the local mall and I was taken aback by how many people actually didn’t look like models. It’s like my brain forgot what ‘normal’ people look like (part of the reason I’m all for the ban on social media for children under 16). But at the same time, I get it. It’s hard being a woman and filters are too easy.

Anyway, I resisted the lure of the healing brush tool when I opened this photo in photoshop. And, if I’m being 100% honest, it was made significantly easier by the fact that I’m having one of my ‘good’ days. My skin is usually much worse than this. But…. baby steps.
